In It To Win It09/06/17
Lucy, a Year 7 at Meopham School, recently attended the Cheerleading British Championships. Kent Cheer Academy had nine teams that attended the Championships. The athletes had been working towards this competition for months and their work completely paid off in the amazing results the programme achieved. Lucy trains twice a week for at least three hours with her squad. Her group is made up of girls from Year 5 to Year 7 in the local area.
Over 85 programmes from all over the UK entered the British Championships and Lucy’s programme were the only ones who could proudly declare that every team placed within the top three for their category. The whole group won three National Champion titles and a Grand Champion title – the highest score of the entire day.
The Head Coach said, 'It was an amazing achievement for our teams to place so highly across the board, and is a testament to our athletes hard work and our coaches dedication to train every athlete to the highest standards - regardless of their level or age.'
When asked about her cheerleading, Lucy said, “Everyone was really buzzing at the competition and I was really excited to go. At the end of the day, everyone was so happy because it’s the best our team have ever done in a Championship.”
