Our ethos creates a supportive, energising and inspiring climate for success.  Indeed, we were recognised as the highest performing non-selective school in Kent for the third year running in the October 2018 School Performance Tables. 

However, at Meopham School we measure success not just in terms of excellent academic outcomes, but also in the development of strong character.  Our traditional academic curriculum combines with our Excellence Through Character curriculum to ensure that every student is nurtured to uncover their talents and aptitudes.  We recognise that excellent examination results are only a part of the story. Qualifications and personality open doors initially, but it is strength of character which keeps those doors open and allows our young people to lead happy, successful and healthy lives.

We are proud that Meopham School students are curious in their learning, resilient in overcoming difficulty, and are confident in evaluating their own progress.  As a consequence, they are ambitious to achieve academic and personal success, both in school and in the world beyond. 

Students and staff moved into our brand new £14 million building in Spring 2018.  The state-of-the-art school offers an inspiring modern learning environment, with traditional classroom spaces.

Meopham School

Meopham School is a small rural 11-18 school with a strong family ethos.  Our mission is academic excellence, delivered through a traditional curriculum. 

Located in the heart of the village of Meopham, we are committed to teaching within traditional classroom spaces.  Our brand new £14 million school building, which opened in Spring 2018, offers a state-of-the-art and inspiring modern learning environment which further facilitates this approach. 

Meopham School was rated as “Outstanding” by Ofsted in January 2019. The 2019 Ofsted report reports that, teaching is “inspirational” and leads to students who are “eager to participate in lessons” demonstrating “a joy in learning.”   The report states that pupils “make excellent progress across the curriculum” and comments on how “standards in English, mathematics and science are particularly impressive.”  Inspectors also observed that “Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary.”

We were recognised as the highest performing non-selective school in Kent for the third year running in the October 2018 School Performance Tables, based on our very positive Progress 8 score.

Students are allocated to one of four houses. Two of the Houses, Redgrave and Holmes, are named after famous British Athletes – the Olympic champions, Sir Steven Redgrave and Dame Kelly Holmes. The other two are named Newton and Brunel after successful figures linked to the field of mathematics – Sir Isaac Newton who virtually invented modern mathematics and Isambard Kingdom Brunel the Victorian engineer. 

Meopham School is particularly proud of its highly consistent approach to teaching and learning, which places a strong focus on differentiation.  Our “House Style” of teaching empowers students to make guided choices during the course of lessons.  This encourages students to strive for their personal best, and enables us to meet the needs of individuals extremely well, whatever their background and ability.
