This area has been created as a central hub for all the information you need to help you transition from Year 11 into Year 12 and become a successful Sixth Form student at Meopham School.
There is a very different learning environment in the Sixth Form compared to that in Year 11. You will have timetabled lessons for each of your chosen qualifications, time to complete the Meopham Baccalaureate of Education and allocated independent learning time which will take place in the Sixth Form study rooms. You will need to become a highly competent independent learner. The ability to be self motivated, organised and resourceful is not only critical to achieving highly in the Sixth Form, but are the keys to success in University, in apprenticeships and, indeed, in full time employment. You will be given every opportunity to develop these critical life skills during your time in our Sixth Form.
When you join the Meopham School Sixth Form in September, you will take part in a Transition week. Within this Transition week you will take part in workshops and lessons to help you acclimatise to your new setting and life as a Sixth Form student. Workshops such as 'Growth Mindset', 'Essay writing' and 'My Future' are all designed to develop you as an individual, improving your resilience and raising your aspirations. Other workshops that focus on mental health and team building will give you the opportunity to get to know your peers and make new friends.
Your teachers and the Sixth Form Leadership team are thrilled that you have chosen to study in the Sixth Form at Meopham School. We are excited to be working with you over the next two years.
