Grade Descriptors
Student performance data is collected at least 3 times a year.
At each data point staff will submit:
1. A current grade for Years 10-13, and an attainment track for Year 7,8 and 9 is required;
2. A projected grade for Years 10-13;
3. An effort grade for all year groups
The current grade is the standard of the student’s work during this data round.
In Key Stage 4 and 5 this will be assessed against the agreed grade descriptor for the course.
Ofqual have produced this summary to clarify how the new 9-1 GCSE scores compare to the historical GCSE A*-G grades:
In Key Stage 3 an Attainment Track will be given; Foundation, Intermediate or
Advanced.
Advanced - on track to achieve grade 7+ / Distinction in Year 11
Intermediate - on track to achieve grade 4-6 / Merit in Year 11
Foundation - on track to achieve grade 3-4 / Pass in Year 11
The projected grade or level is the standard that the student is on course to achieve at the end of the course for Years 10-13.
